US high school choir, orchestra to perform in Vietnam

Phillips Exeter Academy (PEA)’s acclaimed Concert Choir and Chamber Orchestra will make a 14-day tour of Vietnam in celebrating the 20th anniversary of the normalisation of the US – Vietnam diplomatic relations, according to the US embassy in Hanoi.
Phillips Exeter Academy (PEA)’s acclaimed Concert Choir and ChamberOrchestra will make a 14-day tour of Vietnam in celebrating the 20thanniversary of the normalisation of the US – Vietnam diplomaticrelations, according to the US embassy in Hanoi.

The ensembles will partner with musicians and vocalists from theVietnam National Academy of Music and the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatoryof Music to perform concerts of classical Western music and Vietnamesefolk songs.

They have also prepared two Vietnamesefolk songs, “Trong Com” and “Ly Keo Chai”, arranged especially forthe tour by Vietnamese musician and composer Vo Anh Van.

PEA’s ensembles will perform two concerts in Hanoi, with the first oneheld at the Hanoi Cheo Theatre on March 10 and the second at theVietnam National Academy of Music on March 11.

Both concerts are free and open to the public.

Besides Hanoi, more concerts will be held in Hue and Hoi An in the central region and Ho Chi Minh City in the south.-VNA
