Da Nang (VNA) – The guided-missile destroyer USS John S McCain of the US Navy docked at Tien Sa port, Da Nang on September 28, beginning a four-day friendly visit to the central city.

The vessel carries 23 officers and 315 noncommissioned officers and crew members on board.

During the stay, the guests will pay courtesy visits to leaders of the municipal People’s Committee and the High Command of Naval Region 3.

The US naval officers will also join Vietnamese counterparts in community activities and sports exchanges, and visit several historical and tourist sites in Da Nang.

After the farewell ceremony on October 1, the US destroyer will join the seventh-annual Naval Engagement Activity (NEA) with the Vietnam People's Navy’s ship.

NEA Vietnam 2016 will focus on non-combatant events and will include symposia in military medicine and maritime law, subject-matter expert exchanges in navigation, shipboard medicine and damage control and community service events.-VNA
