US to help VN meet trade requirements
US is willing to
provide VN technical assistance to meet the requirements of TPP Agreement.
The US wants to beef up economic ties with Vietnam and is willing to
provide the latter with technical assistance to meet the requirements of
the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement, said visiting US
Ambassador Demetrios Marantis.
Ambassador Marantis, who is also Deputy US Trade Representative, made the statement at a reception given by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh in Hanoi on Feb. 24.
Marantis highlighted Vietnam’s efforts to prepare for the TPP talks, slated for June 2012, after working with a number of ministries and branches on the issue.
Deputy PM Ninh said that the two countries are implementing various activities to raise their level of future cooperation.
He also expressed the hope that Vietnam and the US will soon settle existing issues in their trade relations and exert efforts to promptly complete the TPP talks./.
