Dong Nai (VNA) - The southern province of Dong Nai had a meeting on May 9 with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to discuss a project to give technical support to the province, aiming to prevent and control HIV/AIDS in the locality.

USAID representatives said that the project’s objectives include broadening the coverage of HIV treatment and helping Dong Nai become self-reliant in maintaining the supply of the services.

According to the Dong Nai Centre for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control, the province has had nearly 8,000 people living with HIV/AIDS since 1993. Of whom, nearly 4,300 are under management. The province has lost track of 1,100 patients, while the others died.

The province is striving to complete the 90-90-90 target by 2020, with 90 percent of people living with HIV knowing their conditions, 90 percent receiving antiretroviral (ARV) treatment and 90 percent of those taking ARV therapy having viral suppression. So far, the locality has fulfilled the target by 68-46.5-93 percent respectively.

During the project, USAID will assist Dong Nai in five aspects, including accessing patients, testing, treatment, health insurance and strategic information.

At the meeting, USAID representatives said the project will begin in September 2018 and last until 2030.-VNA
