The VWU will coordinate with the Border Guard High Command to launch a programme to support disadvantaged women living in 90 border and island communes across the country with effective production and poverty reduction.
Other activities will be held on this occasion include the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Vietnam Women Newspaper (March 8, 1948) and a female start-up day.
The Vietnam Women Museum is hosting a photo exhibition themed “Mother and Nature”.
International Women's Day (IWD) has been observed since the early 1900s - a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialised world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies.
This global day aims to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
This year’s theme is “Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives”.-VNA
