Hanoi (VNA) President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan praised Pratibha Mehta, UN Resident Coordinator in Vietnam, for her activities and initiatives to support the Southeast Asian nation in various areas.

At a meeting with the UN official on the occasion of her office term ending in Vietnam on October 18, the VFF leader said Vietnam is an active and responsible UN member.

The VFF has played an active role in improving people’s living standards, promoting democracy and spurring economic growth, he said.

Vietnam has many opportunities while realising the UN Millennium Development Goals, especially those afforded by international integration, Nhan noted, expressing his wish that Pratibha Mehta will continue to offer more initiatives in cooperation with Vietnam.

For her part, Pratibha Mehta said she was impressed by achievements Vietnam has recorded across fields during her tenure, stressing that the VFF’s role has been prescribed in the 2013 Constitution.

She suggested the Vietnamese Party and State continue to create favourable conditions for the country’s youths to contribute to national construction.

The official pledged to offer more incentives and share experience with Vietnam in multiple fields.-VNA
