President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan received outgoing Chinese Ambassador Kong Xuanyou on April 7, hailing the contributions the diplomat has made to the development of the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and China.

Kong said he will continue trying his best to further consolidate the traditional ties between the two countries in the future.

The same day, Nhan also met Ambassador of Chile Fernando Urrutia, who said his country is keen on lifting bilateral ties with Vietnam to a new height to match the cooperation potential between the two countries.

Lauding the socio-economic achievements that Chile has gained over the past years, Nhan said the VFF is ready to beef up multifaceted partnership with the country.

The front will back the development of the Vietnam-Chile relations, he said. The VFF leader also suggested that the Inter-Governmental Committee help raise two-way trade to a higher figure in the coming time.

The two countries should also continue close coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums as well as international organisations of which both sides are members, Nhan added./.
