Vietnamese Vice President and Chairwoman of the National Fund for Vietnamese Children, Nguyen Thi Doan, awarded 130 scholarships, worth 3 million VND each, to disadvantaged studious children in the mountainous province of Ha Giang on December 9.
Addressing the ceremony, Doan highlighted Ha Giang’s effective solutions in economic, cultural and social development, especially education and training.
The Vice President asked the province to pay more attention to disadvantaged and ethnic minority pupils and continue to invest in upgrading classrooms and schools.
The Vice President expressed her hope that domestic and international companies will actively take part in programmes that help disadvantaged children go to school in the province and Vietnam.
On the occasion of the approaching Lunar New Year, Doan also made visits and presented 20 gifts, worth 2.5 million VND each, to welfare policy beneficiary families and poor households in Thuan Hoa commune, Vi Xuyen district.-VNA
