BaRia – Vung Tau (VNA) – Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh on July 13 paidfloral tribute to martyrs at Hang Duong Cemetery in Con Dao district, the southernprovince of Ba Ria – Vung Tau, in the lead-up to the 70th anniversary of Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27).

Sheoffered incense to those who died at Con Dao prison during the war ofresistance, patriot Nguyen An Ninh, the late Party General Secretary Le HongPhong, heroes of the people’s armed forces Vo Thi Sau and Ho Van Nam.

Accordingto the Con Dao relic management board, Con Dao prison accommodated more than20,000 prisoners throughout its 113 years.

Among 1,921 graves of martyrs in Hang Duong Cemetery, more than 700 ones have hadtheir names and homeland identified.

TheVice President also visited Con Dao Temple dedicating to thousands of martyrsnationwide and lock-ups at Con Dao prison.

Inthe morning the same day, the sixth joint commemorative ceremony for the warheroes and patriots who laid down their lives in Con Dao prison was held.

Inthe evening the previous day, a ceremony to commemorate the death of 51soldiers who were shot by French firing squad from October 29, 1947 to November6, 1953 was also organised.

Duringher stay, Thinh presented gifts to 89 policy beneficiary families and warheroes and handed over scholarships from the National Fund for VietnameseChildren to 100 poor students in the district.-VNA

Coast Guard Region 2 promotes IUU-free fishing among Quang Ngai fishermen

The Command of Coast Guard Region 2 briefed the fishermen on the Law of the Sea of Vietnam, the Fisheries Law, and legal documents related to IUU prevention. Officers also provided guidance on identifying areas under Vietnam’s sovereignty and jurisdiction, traditional fishing grounds, warning zones, and prohibited fishing areas.
