Requiem held for martyrs in northern battlefield

A requiem was held at the Vi Xuyen National Martyrs’ Cemetery in Vi Xuyen district, the northern province of Ha Giang to commemorate those who laid down their lives in the northern battlefield to safeguard the country.

Ha Giang (VNA)–A requiem was held at the Vi Xuyen National Martyrs’ Cemetery in Vi Xuyendistrict, the northern province of Ha Giang to commemorate those who laid downtheir lives in the northern battlefield to safeguard the country.

The ceremony was amongactivities to mark the 70th anniversary of the Vietnam Invalids and MartyrsDay (July 27, 1947-2017).

Addressing the event, formerSecretary of the Party Central Committee and former head of the Party CentralCommittee’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation Ha Thi Khiet, as well as Ha Giangleaders and locals, and Buddhist monks and followers offered incense to theheroic martyrs and pray for the peace of their souls.

According to Vice Chairmanof the Ha Giang People’s Council Tran Duc Quy, the Vi Xuyen National Martyrs’Cemetery is home to 1,756 heroic martyrs from 32 cities and provinces fromQuang Tri northwards who died during the struggle to defend the northern border.


On the occasion, theorganising board presented gifts to families of the martyrs and those whorendered services to the nation in Vi Xuyen district.-VNA

Australian veteran’s son returns diary of Vietnamese martyr

Entries in the diary show that Vo Van Cong was born in 1944 in the former Phuoc Tho commune, Nhon Trach district, Bien Hoa province, now Dong Nai province. He joined the revolutionary movement in April 1961 and was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam in May 1962.
