Warsaw (VNA) – Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh asserted women’s role in building stable and sustainable societies in her speech delivered at the closing ceremony of the 26 th Global Summit of Women in Warsaw, Poland, on June 11.

She called on countries to exert greater efforts in order to allow women and girls to live in peace and prosperity, while engaging in dialogues and cooperation to manage differences and disputes by peaceful measures and on the basis of international law.

Women worldwide should unite for peace, friendly cooperation and development, the Vice President said.

Other delegates also stressed the role played by women in economic development, saying the boom of information and technology will make it easier for women to pursuit successes, provided that they believe in themselves and strive unceasingly.

During the three-day event, the Vietnamese delegation actively contributed to the agenda, where they shared the country’s experience relating to public-private partnership projects, scientific-technological applications in business startup and development as well as policies and programmes aiming to remove barriers to women in Vietnamese localities.

On the sidelines of the women’s summit, the Vietnamese delegation also had a meeting with the Polish Economic Minister to discuss economic and trade ties between the two countries, and organised a seminar on cooperation between Vietnamese businesses at home and in Poland.

On June 11, the Vice President met with Advisor to the President of Kazakhstan Abdykalikova Gulshara, during which she affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to consolidating and enhancing the time-honoured friendship with Kazakhstan.

She highly appreciated Kazakhstan’s ratification of the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union ( EAEU ), saying she believes that the deal, once effective, will open up new cooperation opportunities for the two countries as well as for Vietnam and other EAEU nations in general.

Abdykalikova Gulshara said she hopes that Vietnam will participate in the EXPO 2017 in Kazakhstan.

The two sides agreed to increase the exchange of all-level delegations and collaboration between the two countries’ businesses while stepping up their coordination at bilateral forums.

The same day, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh had a meeting with the Vietnamese Women’s Association in Poland, where she praised its role in building the Vietnamese community in the host country and organising activities towards the homeland.-VNA
