On the occasion of the Action Month for Children, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan visited and presented gifts to 157 child patients under treatment at the National Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion (NIHBT) on May 28.

The Vice President was joined by Deputy Minister of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs Doan Mau Diep and Deputy Minister of Health Le Quang Cuong.

Speaking to the institute’s staff, Vice President Doan, who is also President of the National Fund for Vietnamese Children, said that as most of the children at the NIHBT suffer from grave illness, the doctors and nurses should treat them as their own children to help them cope with the diseases.

She wished the children a joyful and warm International Children’s Day full of love.

The same day, Vice President Doan also visited children at the tumour ward of the National Paediatrics Hospital .

In 2013, the National Fund for Vietnamese Children aims to raise 50 billion VND for more than one million children in difficult circumstances nationwide through such programmes as For the Children’s Eyesight, For the Children’s Smiles, For the Children’s Hearts, and various scholarships projects.-VNA
