Hanoi (VNA) – Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan on September 12 presented gifts to 200 children patients at the Hanoi-based National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (NIHBT) on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
The official, accompanied by representatives of the Support Fund for Cancer Patients-Bright Future, lauded the dedication by the institute’s doctors and workers, and urged them to carry forward the sense of responsibility.
Lauding the institution’s contributions to the voluntary blood donation, Xuan urged it to play a more active role in public health care, especially amidst the present natural disasters.
Institute Director Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ha Tinh said each year the institute receives 500,000 blood units that are delivered to nearly 200 hospitals in the entire northern region, and some central localities.
It is ready to supply blood to medical facilities for emergency treatment in face of the current widespread flooding that is devastating many northern localities, he said./.
