Moscow(VNA) – The Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN) and Vietnam’s National Universityof Economics (NEU) hosted a video conference on June 4 to discuss theVietnam-Russia economic relations amid new challenges.

The event,which marked the Vietnam Year in Russia and Russia Year in Vietnam, was attended by Chairman of the VietnamNational Committee for the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) VoTri Thanh and experts fromministries and governmental agencies as well as leading universities andacademies from both sides.

In her openingremarks, Dr. Elena Lenchuk, head of the RAN’s institute of economy, said theevent aims to mark the 70th anniversary of the two nations’ diplomatic ties.

She spokehighly of the close cooperation between Vietnam and Russia, saying against thebackdrop of globlisation and new global challenges, Russia is interested instrengthening relations with the Asia-Pacific, particularly Vietnam which hasseen robust economic growths in recent years.

A total of 14presentations were delivered throughout three sessions of the event. The firstsession reviewed the main trends in the trade and investment cooperationbetween Vietnam and Russia over the last decade (2010 – 2020), the seconddiscussed the bilateral relations which are being challenged by the COVID-19pandemic, and the third wason declining global oil prices andthe energy cooperation between the two sides./.

Ho Chi Minh City to integrate IoT into smart transport infrastructure

To promote IoT application in smart transport, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Chairman has assigned the Department of Construction to lead the deployment of IoT in the construction, management, operation and maintenance of transport infrastructure.
