The Vietnam Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank) has funded the construction of 2,010 houses worth more than 50 billion VND (nearly 2.4 million USD) for poor households in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.
The houses were handed over to the beneficiaries at a ceremony on August 17, on time to celebrate the 68th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2).
Can Tho City People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Hung Dung commended Vietinbank for supporting the less fortunate. He said despite recent efforts of Can Tho authorities, more than 2,000 families in the city still need help to solve their housing difficulties.
On the occasion, municipal representatives presented certificates of merit to six organisations and individuals recognised for their notable contributions to implementing social welfare projects.-VNA
