Vietnam, Algeria bolster multi-faceted cooperation

Algiers (VNA) - Member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)’s Central Committee and deputy head of its Commission for Information and Education Lai Xuan Mon paid a working trip to Algeria from May 14 to 19.

Mon had meetings with Secretary General of Algeria’s National Liberation Front (FLN) Party Abdelkrim Benmbarek, Chairman of the Algeria-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group Salah Dieghloul, Minister of Communications Mohamed Laagab, and Director General of Algeria Press Service (APS) news agency Samir Gaid.

At the events, he highlighted Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements over the past time and spoke highly of Algeria’s increasingly positive role in handling regional security and political issues.

Affirming the traditional relations between the two countries, he stressed that the Vietnamese Party, Government, and people always treasure the support that the Algerians have given to the country during the struggle for national independence in the past, and construction and development nowadays.

Meanwhile, the Algerian leaders and officials asserted that Vietnam is a friend and a trustworthy partner of the African country, adding the Algerian people always respect President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap, and have got a lot of motivation from Vietnam’s Dien Bien Phu Victory.

Algeria always bears in mind Vietnam’s recognition of its government right from the early days of its independence, they underscored.

In a meeting with Abdelkrim Benmbarek, Mon suggested the two parties continue their close coordination, enhance discussions and meetings at all levels, share experience in various domains, expand people-to-people exchange, and work closely at international forums.

He affirmed the close ties between the CPV and the FLN, and expressed his hope that the two sides will continue developing their relations as well as boosting cooperation and people-to-people exchange, and sign a cooperative deal soon, creating a firm political foundation for the relations between the two countries.

Salah Djeghloul laid a stress on the Vietnam – Algeria time-tested relations, and agreed to enhance exchange, promote parliamentary cooperation, and support each other at the international forums, contributing to raising the prestige and position of each nation.

In a working session with Mohamed Laagab, Mon discussed and shared experience in various areas such as foreign service information, and media management and inspection to grasp public opinions. Paying a working visit to the APS news agency, he underscored the need to expand collaboration between the Vietnam News Agency and the Algerian news agency.

In the framework of his Algeria trip, Mon also visited the Vietnamese Embassy, the Museum of Revolution, the Vovinam Federation of Algeria, and the International Association of Algerian Revolution Friends.

On the occasion of the 134th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh, he also offered flowers at the statute of the late leader in the Vietnamese Embassy and visited Ho Chi Minh avenue in Algiers./.
