Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Vietnam alwaysmakes positive contributions to the ASEAN cooperation, according to an expert.

Not a member right after the establishment ofthe regional grouping, yet Vietnam is always fully aware the important role ofASEAN, and strives to cement solidarity in the bloc as well as its centrality,said Collins Chong Yew Keat, lecturer of the University of Malaysia, to the Vietnam News Agency.

The expert also spoke highly of Vietnam’sviewpoint on pushing ASEAN cooperation, making it a regional platform in buildingon trust, helping maintain peace and prevent threats in the region.

Vietnam has proved itself a member withresponsible and effective contributions to the region, not only in the field ofdeveloping economic power but also settling both traditional andnon-traditional challenges, he stressed.

Vietnam has also taken an active part inintra-bloc and trans-border economic and trade initiatives, thereby helping thosecountries achieve economic benefits and boosting the trade of the bloc withpartners, the expert highlighted./.

Pathways to double-digit growth to be tabled at 16th NA’s first session

In the morning sitting on April 20, deputies are expected to hear proposals and verification reports on a range of draft resolutions. The documents cover breakthrough mechanisms and policies for the development of Vietnamese culture; the establishment of Dong Nai as a centrally run city; a pilot framework for public lawyer institution; and special mechanisms to address land law violations committed prior to the 2024 Land Law taking effect, alongside measures to resolve long-delayed and stalled projects.
