The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations on October 25 in Hanoi coordinated with Argentina’s Embassy in Vietnam to celebrate the 40 th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc appreciated the support given by Argentina and Latin American countries to Vietnam during its past national cause of liberation.

He said the 40-year relations have experienced many historical ups and downs, and are still growing.

Two-way trade rocketed from 316 million USD in 2007 to an estimated 1.5 billion USD by the end of 2013, making Argentina Vietnam’s second largest Latin American trade partner.

The two sides are exerting efforts to tap investment opportunities in energy and telecommunications while carrying out cooperation initiatives in agriculture, healthcare, science-technology and addressing war aftermaths.

Argentina’s Ambassador to Vietnam Claudio Ricardo Gutierrez said the relations between the two countries have grown firmly and diversely, showing their willingness to cooperate in issues of common interest regardless of their geographical distance.

The two countries are also expanding their cooperation to the fields of anthropology, forensic medicine, and scientific and technological research.-VNA
