Vietnamese swimmer Vo Thanh Tung secures a silver from the World Para Swimming World Series in Singapore on Sunday. (Photo:zing.vn) Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnamese athletes have won a silver and a bronze medal atthe World Para Swimming World Series which took place in Singapore on May 10 - 12.
Asian champion Vo Thanh Tung pocketed a silver in the men’s S1-5 50m backstrokeevent with a time of 39.76 second, webthethao reported.
Tung, a leading Vietnamese disabled athlete, won a silver medal at theParalympic Rio 2016.
Tung’s teammate Ha Van Hiep, finished third in the men’s S4 50m breaststroke in1:16.14.
The three-day competition saw the participation of more than 160 athletes from25 countries. It was also a qualifying event for the Tokyo 2020 ParalympicGames.
Singapore was the only Asian nation to host the largest World Series for paraswimming, lining up as the 5th hosting country for the 2019 leg. The event willlater continue with two more legs in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy, between May 30 andJune 2, and Berlin, Germany, from June 6-9. -VNA
