Vietnam attends 59th meeting of Asian - African Legal Consultative Organisation

Hanoi (VNA) –Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, officials from the ministries of Public Security and Justice, and some researchers and practitioners of international lawin Vietnam are attending the 59th meeting of the Asian - AfricanLegal Consultative Organisation (AALCO) via videoconference.

The Vietnamese delegation deliveredspeeches which highlight international law, respect for the rule of law at theinternational level, and support for the peaceful settlement of internationaldisputes.

They also shared the country’sexperience in handling external relations, as well as its viewpoints on thecodification and progressive development of international law, according to theForeign Ministry.

The AALCO, comprising 47member states, is an international inter-governmental organisation establishedin 1956 in the Non-Aligned Movement of Asia and Africa. It aims to promotedialogue, exchange viewpoints, and enhance cooperation in many areas ofinternational law.

Taking place from November 29to December 1, this year’s event in Hong Kong (China) focuses on such legalissues as activities of the International Law Commission and international lawin cyberspace. It is set to elect the AALCO Secretary-General for the 2021 - 2025tenure.

Vietnam officially became an AALCOmember at this organisation’s 56th meeting in Kenya in 2017 after servingas an observer for a period of time./.

Vietnam, Italy agree on new cooperation directions

Both sides agreed to facilitate market access for key export products, and prioritise cooperation in investment attraction and technology transfer in emerging and strategic sectors such as new energy, renewable energy and automation, while continuing to strengthen existing cooperation in textiles, footwear, climate change response, electronics, culture and tourism.

Vietnam, China enhance public security ties

Amid complex developments in the global and regional situation, the two sides agreed on the need to enhance substantive political trust, fight transnational crime, and accelerate negotiations and the signing of new cooperation agreements in line with international law and legal frameworks of both countries.
