Luang Prabang (VNA) – A Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) Pham Quang Dung attended a policy dialogue between central bank governors of ASEAN countries and financial institutions' Chief ExecutiveOfficers on April 4 in Luang Prabang, Laos.
The event is withinthe framework of the 28th ASEAN Finance Ministers' Meeting (AFMM) and 11thASEAN Finance Ministers’ and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting (AFMGM) which are taking place in Laos from April 3-5.
The dialogue discussedthe update of the Data Interoperability Framework (IDF); small and medium-sizedenterprises’ financial access; cyber security and regional finance’s recoveryand sustainable development.
Speaking at the event,the SBV Deputy Governor welcomed regional initiativeson the Cybersecurity Resilience and Information Sharing Platform (CRISP) formember countries to share information to combat cyber security threats and developcollaborative mitigation actions, as well as the framework for datainteroperability to ensure safe cross-border data flows for banking andfinancial institutions in the ASEAN.
Dung said that theabove initiatives allow the establishment of digital connections among ASEANfinancial institutions and players in the market, thereby supporting thedigital transformation of the banking industry in the region, and contributingto promoting economic integration and social development.
To further enhance theeffectiveness of those initiatives and digital connectivity initiatives, hecalled on the private sector to closely participate in proposing technicalsolutions and specific resources to mitigate risks and further promoteconnectivity in the region.
Regarding sustainablefinance, Dung acknowledged the efforts of the ASEAN Taxonomy Board in developing andintroducing standardised approaches to the assessment of economic activities.The SBV highly appreciates ASEAN’s support for the banking industry in the energytransition to a sustainable net-zero eeconomy.
On the same day, the SBV Deputy Governor met with Rosha Surendra,co-chief executive of HSBC Asia-Pacific. During the meeting, the two sidesdiscussed cooperation to support Vietnam’s economic development, highlightingthe cooperation in trade and capital market development, sustainable financing, inclusivefinancing, and management of national reserve and investment./.
