Vietnam attends Francophone week in Cuba

Vietnamese ambassador to Cuba Vu Chi Cong and his staffers attended the Week of Francophone International in Havana from March 13-22.

The event was co-sponsored by French-speaking ambassadors to promote different cultures of the Francophone community members, which now number over 60.

At a meeting on March 18, the Counsellors of the Haiti Embassy, Jean Maxius Bernard, emphasised the importance of developing the French language, which is now used by over 180 million people over the world.

He called for stronger solidarity and cooperation for development within the community.

Bernard sounded grateful to the Francophone community for giving a top priority of its programme this year to Haiti which has been hit by one of the most deadly earthquakes in the human history.

As part of the event, photo and publication exhibitions were held to present cultures of the Francophone members to the Cuban people.

The event included concerts and singing contests in the French language and festivals on traditional foods./.
