A delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) attended the 15th session of the Standing Committee of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) in Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur from May 5-7.
At the event, delegates from 18 major political parties who are members of the ICAPP Standing Committee reviewed activities since the 14th meeting in December last year and discussed regional and international issues of concerns.
Mentioning the current tense situation at the border area between Cambodia and Thailand , delegates called on the two sides to end their conflict and respect international laws as well as the United Nations Charter.
ICAPP is willing to take an active role in helping ease the tense situation and contribute to normalising the Cambodia-Thailand relations, the participants said.
On the occasion, ICAPP worked with the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) to hold an international conference on natural disasters and environment protection with the participation of ICAPP’s 35 member delegations.
Addressing the conference, head of the Vietnamese delegation Vuong Thua Phong, who is Deputy Head of CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, highlighted the Vietnamese Party and State’s policies and shared the country’s experience in the field.
The conference issued the Kuala Lumpur Declaration, calling on Asian political parties to strengthen their cooperation in natural disaster prevention and control./.
