Vietnam and Belarus pledged to cooperate on military personnel training, with a focus on political ideology.
The agreement was reached during talks between the Head of the General Department of Politics under the Vietnam People’s Army, Sen. Lieut. Gen. Ngo Xuan Lich, and Chief of the Main Directorate of Ideological Work under the Belarusian Defence Ministry, Maj. Gen. Gura Aleksandr Nikolaevich, in Hanoi on October 8.
They also agreed to share experience in national security and protection, as well as social and health insurance coverage for personnel.
In a meeting with Gura Aleksandr Nikolaevich that same day, Defence Minister Gen. Phung Quang Thanh hailed the bilateral agreement, adding that he hoped for support from Belarus across the board.
Vietnam continuously regards Belarus as a friend and trustworthy partner, and holds Belarus’ goodwill towards military technical cooperation in high regards, Thanh said.
Nikolaevich expressed his wish that both armies continue to fulfill previously reached commitments and agreements.
The guest’s six-day visit to Vietnam lasts until October 12.-VNA
