Vietnam has helped build two houses for orphaned children at the Kibaha Orphanage Village in Tanzania.

The country’s aid of 100,000 USD was handed over to Anna Mkapa, the wife of former Tanzanian President Benjamin Mkapa, President of the “Equal Opportunities for All Trust Full” (EOTF) Fund, in 2005.

Located in Pwani province, the Kibaha Orphanage Village has been built and managed by the EOTF Fund with the aim of receiving and bringing up orphaned children.

Once completed, the 80-acre village will include eight houses for children, an administrative building, a kindergarten, and primary and secondary schools.

To date, three houses, two of them funded by Vietnam , and the administrative building have been completed.

On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of Vietnam-Tanzania diplomatic ties, on February 26, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Duy Thien visited the village and met with the EOTF Fund’s Management Board.

At the meeting, EOTF Fund President A. Mkapa expressed thanks to the Government and people of Vietnam and said the first orphans will be received to live in the two Vietnamese-funded houses.

For his part, Ambassador Thien said that the mutual cooperation and assistance between the two countries over the past decades is a valuable asset being preserved and promoted by both sides.

He said he believed that the 45th year of bilateral diplomatic ties will mark a new stage in the two countries’ friendship and cooperation./.
