Party General Secretary and President To Lam and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping witnessed the signing of 14 cooperation documents between ministries, agencies and localities of the two countries on August 19 as part of the Vietnamese top leader’s state visit to China.
The state visit to China by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and State President To Lam is a historic one that inherits the past and opens up a new chapter in the bilateral relations, a Chinese expert has said.
Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, accompanied by his spouse, is on a state visit to China from August 18 to August 20. On August 19, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President of China Xi Jinping, along with his spouse, hosted a welcome ceremony for Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and his spouse. Following the ceremony, the two leaders held talks.
For 74 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Vietnam and China have provided each other with significant and valuable support and assistance, following the motto of “friendly neighbourliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability, looking toward the future” and the spirit of being “good neighbours, good friends, good comrades, good partners.” Notably, in December 2023, the two countries issued a joint statement on further deepening and advancing their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and building a Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
At the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President Xi Jinping and his spouse, Vietnamese General Secretary and President To Lam, along with his spouse, will make a state visit to China from August 18 to 20. The visit is expected to be a significant milestone, ushering in a new phase of development in the friendly neighborliness and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China, as well as in the Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
