To further promote the potential and strengths of the bilateral relations, Mai suggested the two countries closely coordinate and implement the common perceptions of the two countries’ senior leaders as well as bilateral agreements fully and seriously.
In the context of complicated developments of the regional and international situations and negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and China maintains a good development momentum.
According to him, collaboration in pandemic prevention and control is a new bright spot in bilateral relations.
The two sides have maintained dialogue and negotiation channels, made efforts to control disputes, and satisfactorily solved problems arising at sea by peaceful means on the basis of international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
At multilateral forums, Vietnam and China have actively coordinated to promote peace, stability and cooperation in the region and the world, and supported each other in joining international organisations.
However, the ambassador also pointed to several existing problems in the bilateral relationship, including Vietnam’s big trade deficit, problems related to quality and construction progress of several Chinese-invested projects, and sea-related disputes.
He expressed his hope that Foreign Minister Son’s visit will help boost the growing Vietnam-China ties, continue realising the common perceptions and implementing signed agreements, and motivate the bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership./.
