The Vietnamese Robocon team on August 22 gained the third prize at the Asia-Pacific robot contest 2009 in Japan, which is sponsored by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union.
The Vietnamese team suffered defeat at the hand of the Chinese team from the Harbin Institute of Technology in the semi-finals.
The Chinese went on to the finals and won over the University of Hong Kong team to become the champions of the contest. This is the third consecutive time China has made it to the top at the annual event.
“ABU Robocon 2009 TOKYO ” attracted the participation of 20 Robocon teams from 19 countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific region. This year’s contest is themed “Travel Together for the Victory Drums”.
Each match lasts 3 minutes. The next Asia-Pacific robot contest is expected to be held in Egypt by 2010./.
