The Vietnam-Cuba Inter-Governmental Committee for Economic, Trade, Scientific and Technological Cooperation has convened its 28th session in Havana, Cuba.
At the two-day session that wrapped up on Sept. 24, both sides assessed the implementation of projects signed at the previous session and discussed measures to increase two-way trade.
The two sides noted bilateral economic and trade ties remain modest and fail to match with the two countries’ potential and their traditional friendship and fine political relations.
Construction Minister Nguyen Hong Quan, who is head of the Vietnam-Cuba Cooperation Sub-Committee, affirmed the readiness to cooperate with and assist Cuba in agricultural projects’ development for the Cuban Government’s food security programme, as well as in education and training.
For his part, Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz, who is head of the Cuba-Vietnam Cooperation Subcommittee, said Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit to Cuba in early September reflected the traditional solidarity and comradeship between the two Parties, Governments and peoples.
The two subcommittees’ presidents confirmed their governments’ support of more contact between Cuban and Vietnamese companies to explore opportunities for business and investment cooperation./.
