Vietnam and Egypt will coordinate with and support each other at international forums for the two countries’ interests and for maintaining a peaceful environment and cooperation for development, said Vietnamese Ambassador to Egypt Dao Thanh Chung.

Talking with a Vietnam News Agency correspondent on September 2, the diplomat said during his meetings with Egyptian leaders, the Egyptian side expressed their wish to promote the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with Vietnam, especially in economics, trade and investment. Egyptian officials also said they want to learn from Vietnam ’s experience in socio-economic development, Chung said.

According to the ambassador, both sides should enhance the exchange of visits by high ranking delegations and maintain regular contacts between the two countries’ ministries and sectors, with a view to beefing up the multi-faceted cooperation, mutual trust and understanding in the time to come.

Both countries should prepare to conduct the fifth session of the Vietnam-Egypt Joint Committee to review the implementation of signed agreements and put forth goals and measures to boost cooperative relations in the new period.

Chung said both sides should set up a Vietnam-Egypt Business Council in each country to serve as the mechanism to promote bilateral economic, trade and investment ties.

He added that the two countries will coordinate in organising activities to mark the 50 th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic ties in 2013./.
