Vietnam enhances friendship with international friends

Vietnam has actively joined in regional and global organisations and affirmed its position in the international arena, said Vice President of the Vietnam-US Society (VUS) Bui The Giang.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has actively joined in regional and globalorganisations and affirmed its position in the international arena, said VicePresident of the Vietnam-US Society (VUS) Bui The Giang.

Giang made the statement while receiving a17-member delegation of Friendship Force Marlborough from New Zealand underFriendship Force International (FFI), which is on a fact-finding trip to Vietnamfrom October 1-16.

The annual exchange programme between the FFIand the VUS has been implemented for 12 years and yielded fruitful results, henoted. 

The programme aims to provide internationalfriends with an insight into Vietnam as well as its people, history, culture,and customs, thus promoting mutual understanding and friendship betweenVietnamese people and international friends.

Over the years, the VUS has extended partnershipwith other FFI branches in Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Thailand, Giangsaid.

He briefed his guests on socio-economicdevelopment and achievements Vietnam has recorded during the renewal process.

Giang also shared the country’s difficulties intackling post-war consequences, such as unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance andAgent Orange (AO)/dioxin victims, as well as efforts of the VietnameseGovernment to overcome war consequences and international support.

In reply, Robert Eric Cooper, a member of thedelegation, thanked the VUS for creating conditions for the delegation to visitVietnam and learn about land and people of Vietnam, saying that they learnedabout the daily life of local people via a homestay programme in Hanoi and Huecity, the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.-VNA

Hanoi's National Assembly deputies urged to fulfill commitments to voters

In the third quarter of 2026, Hanoi recorded a strong breakthrough, with growth of 10.02%, exceeding the national rate of 9.95%. This marked the first time the city had achieved double-digit growth this year and its highest quarterly growth rate. Its GRDP growth in the first nine months was estimated at 8.85%, up from 7.92% in the same period of 2025.

PM urges swift implementation of national target programme, ensuring people are not kept waiting

Under the guiding principle of “coordinated policies – unified action”, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung stressed that people must be placed at the centre of the programme rather than treated merely as passive recipients of assistance. Integration must deliver substantive improvements, reduce fragmentation and duplication, and ensure that policies and tasks continue uninterrupted during the transition.

Memorial service held for 93 fallen soldiers in Tuyen Quang province

More than 4,000 officers and soldiers laid down their lives on the northern border, particularly at the Vi Xuyen–Ha Tuyen front in Tuyen Quang province. In the latest search and recovery operation, competent forces found 93 sets of remains of fallen soldiers in Thanh Thuy and Minh Tan communes and Binh Thuan ward, including 18 found individually and 75 in six mass graves.
