Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese authorities have handed over a suspected drug trafficker to Bulgaria at the extradition request of the European nation.
The Ministry of Public Security said on January 31 that the transfer of Bulgarian national Milen Ivanov Davranski, 43, was carried out at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi a day earlier.
This was the first case extradited to Bulgaria under the 1986 agreement on mutual legal assistance in civil and criminal matters between Vietnam and Bulgaria.
The Bulgarian Ministry of Justice requested Davranski be extradited for investigation into the alleged storage and trafficking of drug and founding and leading of an organised crime gang. The suspect was also in the international wanted list of the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol).
Earlier, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Court had sentenced Davranski to three years in prison for using the computer, telecommunications and internet networks or digital devices to appropriate assets under Article 226b of Vietnam’s Penal Code.
Davranski finished serving the prison term on September 7, 2017.-VNA
