Ottawa (VNA) – Vietnam wishes todeepen its relations with Canada, National Assembly Vice Chairman Do Ba Ty has toldBruce Stanton, Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada. 

During the talks with the Canadian legislator inOttawa on December 5 as part of his four-day working visit to the country, NAVice Chairman Ty affirmed Vietnam always treasures the relations with Canadaand hopes to continue increasing collaboration with the north American countryin the time ahead.

While speaking highly of effective cooperationbetween the two nations’ legislative bodies, Ty said the bilateral ties haveflourished across the fields in recent time, especially in trade, investment,science, and education. 

The Vietnamese NA backs the strengthening anddevelopment of multifaceted cooperation with Canada through improving thesystem of legal documents, thus creating favourable legal framework for foreignbusinesses, including those from Canada, to operate in Vietnam, he reaffirmed. 

He also highlighted the important role of Canadain the region and the world, saying that the Vietnamese NA applauds enhancedconnection between Canada and countries in the Asia-Pacific region, includingVietnam, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in theregion. 

For his part, Bruce Stanton spoke of Vietnam’ssocio-economic development as well as the country’s increasing position in theregion and the world. 

He suggested stronger cooperation between thetwo countries, saying that he hopes the two sides will concretise measures andproposals to foster the two-way trade. 

Canada is willing to share experience in lawmaking, supervision and settlement of voters’ complaints, he affirmed, hopingthat through the relations between the two legislatures, Canada andVietnam will step up all-round cooperation.

The establishment of friendship parliamentariangroups between the two countries is a good way to bolster links between the twolegislatures, he said. 

 The two sides agreed to enhance the exchangeof all-level visits between the two legislative bodies, and their coordinationin examining and supervising the implementation of agreements signed betweenthe governments, ministries and sectors of the two countries.-VNA
