Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the remarks at his reception fornew Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Hiroshi Fukada in Hanoi on October29.

He welcomed the diplomat on assuming his newpost in Vietnam while underscoring the similarities in culture, thetraditional friendship, potential and advantages possessed by the twocountries as supportive elements aiding their mutual development.

PM Dung affirmed that since the two countries lifted their relationsto a strategic partnership, their ties in various fields have progressedstrongly, generating practical benefits for the two peoples.

He took the occasion to thank Japan for its sizeable ODA provision,asserting that this source of capital has played an active part inVietnam’s socio-economic development.

Vietnamtreasures and will do more to step up their bilateral cooperation, PMDung confirmed, expressing his hope that the new ambassador willcontribute to the process.

Ambassador HiroshiFukada assured the host that he will do the best he can to bridge thefriendship and cooperation between the two countries in various areas,especially in economics, trade, investment, ODA, education andculture.-VNA
