The Programme Vocational Training 2008 (PTV 2008) has worked to enable vocational training schools to develop their training courses meeting market needs.
The four-year implementation of the programme, a partnership between the Vietnam General Directorate of Vocational Training and the German Development Cooperation Agency (GIZ), was reviewed in Hanoi on November 11.
Five vocational training schools have benefited from PTV 2008, including the Viet Bac – Vinacomin Vocational Industrial College, Bac Ninh Vocational Economic and Technical College, Ninh Thuan Vocational Secondary School, Long An Vocational College, and An Giang Vocational College.
They were supported to be independently compiling relevant teaching and learning documents at different levels as well as setting up collaborative models to connect with enterprises to implement demand-driven training.
Their teachers’ capacity building has been strengthened so they were ultimately able to design and run training courses to market demand.
Employment is always a big issue in Vietnam given the pressures derived from the high ratio of the population of working age.
There are qualified graduates who are having a hard time to find the jobs that they desire. Meanwhile, many employers say they cannot find people with the right skills.
