Vietnam bagged three gold medals at the Asia- Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) on May 19.
The gold medals were won by Nguyen Tien Trung Kien, Nguyen Viet Dung and Phan Duc Nhat Minh from Hanoi University of Natural Sciences’ High School for Gifted Students and Vietnam National University.
The Vietnamese team were also awarded two silver and one bronze medals.
Vietnam, along with the Republic of Korea, ranked third at the APIO, following China and Iran, the best result the Vietnamese team has achieved since it first attended the event in 2013.
This year’s competition drew the participation of students from 27 countries and territories. The contest was held online, with students competing within their own countries or areas.
