Meanwhile, journalist Rui Wei, head of the Vietnamese section at China Radio International, also lauded Vietnam’s external relations, which he said, have created favourable conditions for socialism building and national defence.

He emphasised that over the past years, Vietnam has increasingly played its important role on international arena, with active contributions to almost important international organisations and forums, thus fulfilling a number of tasks. Vietnam is now an active member of over 70 regional and global organisations and plays a significant role in ASEAN and many UN agencies.

Rui said the most important in Vietnam’s external affairs is maintaining the principle of independence and self-reliance as taught by President Ho Chi Minh. Its external relations are playing a great and active role in economic development and creating an environment of peace and stability, thus making effective contributions to firmly safeguarding sovereignty and building land borderlines of peace, friendship and development with Laos, Cambodia and China.
