Construction of a Vietnam-funded orthopaedics and rehabilitation centre started on August 28 in Con village, Thu Lakhom district, the Lao province of Vientiane.

The Centre for Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation is built with an investment of over 48 billion VND (about 2 million USD) as the Vietnamese Government’s non-refundable aid.

The centre with 40 beds is designed to produce and assemble orthopaedic devices and provide functional rehab services for invalids and disabled people.

The Centre is expected to be operational in 2016.

Baykham Khattiya, Lao Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Welfares, and Nguyen Thanh Hoa, Deputy Minister of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam, were present at the ground-breaking ceremony.-VNA
