Vietnam holds exchange with Lao military alumni

A gathering of Lao military alumni in Vietnam took place in the Lao capital city of Vientiane on Aug. 3.
A gathering of Lao military alumni in Vietnam took place in the Lao capital city of Vientiane on Aug. 3.

Jointly organised by the Vietnam Defence Attaché’s Office and theVietnamese Embassy in Laos , the event was part of activities to markthe 35 th anniversary of the signing of Friendship and CooperationTreaty and the 50 th anniversary of the Vietnam–Laos diplomatic ties.

Addressing the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to LaosTa Minh Chau highly valued the Lao army’s contributions to maintainingand fostering the close cooperative relationship between the twonations.

Maj. Gen. Kensi Manivong, Deputy Directorof the General Politics Department of the Lao People’s Army thanked theVietnamese Party, State and Government for standing side-by-side withLao soldiers and people during their struggle for national liberationand training generations of military alumni, helping them fulfillassigned missions during the war.

The participantsexpressed their gratitude to the Vietnamese lecturers and people, andvowed to do their utmost to enhance friendship and comprehensivecooperation between the two Parties, States, armies and people.-VNA

Vietnam, Russia promote defence cooperation

In order for bilateral defence ties to truly match its role as a strategic pillar of the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the new period, the two sides agreed to focus on promoting several key areas, including delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels, particularly high-level one; maintaining effective defence strategic consultation and dialogue mechanisms; training; and United Nations peacekeeping operations.

Vietnam, Mongolia work to deepen bilateral ties in substantive, effective, sustainable manner

This is the second visit by a top Vietnamese legislator to Mongolia since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1954, and the first official visit by NA President Man to Mongolia in his capacity. The visit demonstrates Vietnam’s high regard for bilateral relations and the important role of parliamentary diplomacy in the countries’ overall relations.
