The implementation of the National Cooperation Programme on Sustainable Employment between Vietnam and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) was reviewed at a meeting in Hanoi on February 18.
The meeting, which aimed to give priorities of Vietnamese partners in performing the programme in the 2014-16 period was organised by the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) in conjunction with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Vietnam Cooperative’s Alliance and the ILO.
In recent time, the concerned parties focused on implementing the national priorities of the programme, including improving quality and sustainability of growth through high-quality labour; promoting equal and comprehensive growth by encouraging social welfare activities, and meeting the demands for sustainable job from vulnerable groups; contributing to Vietnam’s modernisation-orientated industrialisation by bettering the management of the employment market.
In the framework of the programme, many important projects were carried out by the MoLISA, the ILO and other partners in Vietnam, contributing to realising the programme’s goals.
They also worked closely to amend the Labour Code and the Law on Trade Union, while building legal documents and implementing several projects related to labour relations, minimum wage, employee safety and sanitation, social insurance and employment.
Earlier, a memorandum of understanding on the National Cooperation Programme on Sustainable Employment in the period of 2014-2019 between the Vietnamese Government and representative organisations of workers and the ILO was signed.-VNA
