Vietnam-India diplomatic relationship marked in HCM City

Ho Chi MinhCity (VNA) – HCM City authorities held a ceremony on January 10 to markthe 45th anniversary of the Vietnam-India diplomatic relationship (January 7,1972 –2017) and the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership between thetwo countries (July 6, 2007 –2017).

Speaking at theceremony, Vice Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee Huynh Cach Mangstressed the religious and trade links between Vietnam and India have datedback thousands of years, and the two nations have shared similarities in thestruggle for national liberation.

The bilateralties saw a turning point with the historic meeting between President Ho ChiMinh and Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in 1954.

Following theestablishment of diplomatic relations in 1997 and the strategic partnership in2007, the links between the two countries have been unceasingly deepened andexpanded across areas.

The twocountries elevated their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2016.

India’s GeneralConsul in HCM City Smita Pant said the Vietnam-India relationship is built on asolid foundation of close cultural and historical links as well as mutualtrust, understanding and support.

She promised toboost cooperation programmes in tourism, culture, and people between India’slocalities and HCM City.

On the occasion,the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations in HCM City organised theVietnam-India Culture Week in HCM City from January 7-14.

As of the end of2016, India had 49 investment projects in HCM City with combined capital of 55million USD.

The city hashosted many India-related cultural events such as the International Yoga Day,the Diwali Light Festival and an exhibition on India-Vietnam friendship.-VNA

Vietnamese, Lao defence ministries beef up ties

Exhibition in Vientiane celebrates Vietnam–Laos friendship

Organised by the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) on the sidelines of the Vietnam–Laos Friendship Exchange programme themed “Vietnam – Laos, our two countries, the love is deeper than the Red River – Mekong River,” the event was attended by President Luong Cuong and Lao Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith. ​

Deputy PM hails success of State President’s recent Laos visit

The visit offered a chance to reflect on the rich history of the Vietnam-Laos combat alliance and special solidarity founded by President Ho Chi Minh, Presidents Kaysone Phomvihane and Suphanouvong and nurtured by generations of leaders and people from both nations, he said.

State President reaffirms close bilateral ties during meeting with Lao PM
