Vietnam-India trade reached over 1.3 billion USD in the first quarter of 2013, representing a 40.2 percent rise from the same period last year, according to the Vietnamese trade counselor in India .
Of the figure, Vietnam’s export was 533 million USD, recording a surge of 59.3 percent, and its import was 774 million USD, increasing by 29.5 percent, said trade counselor Nguyen Son Ha.
Vietnam ’s export items recording high growth rates included phones and phone components (238.5 million USD, up 174.6 percent), computers, electronic products and components (51.7 million USD, up 104.4 percent), and coffee (25.8 million USD, up 118.3 percent).
The country imported mainly cotton, corn, medicines, steel, and textile and garment materials from its partner.-VNA
