The Vietnamese Embassy in Italy is ready and willing to promote a higher level of comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador Nguyen Hoang Long made the statement during a meeting with the newly-elected Mayor of Rome Ignazio Marino in the capital on September 6.
He said that forums and meetings should be held between the embassy and Rome authorities, enterprises and business associations to exchange information about both countries, learn the demands of each side and identify areas of potential cooperation.
The ambassador suggested city authorities support Vietnam in sending business delegations to Rome and vice versa in order to establish partnership and investment ties.
Vietnam is eager to learn from Rome’s expertise in archaeology, particularly the preservation and management of ancient cultural heritage, Long said.
For his part, Mayor Marino highlighted the special relationship between Rome and Hanoi.
He said that he wants the Italy-Vietnam relationship to grow in the future, especially between the two capitals, so that benefits can be felt in many fields.
He stated that economic ties should be particularly targeted, adding that Rome promotes internationalisation in the city and so encourages Italian enterprises to establish bilateral trade cooperation deals with ones from Vietnam.-VNA
