Vietnam, Italy share government inspection experience

A delegation from the Government Inspectorate led by Inspector General Huynh Phong Tranh is on a working visit to Italy to share state inspection experience with the host.

During his meeting with officials from Italy’s Department for Public Administration on September 10, Tranh said that the Vietnamese government pays a special attention to public administrative reform, considering it one of the key solutions to prevent corruption and increase the efficiency of the public administrative apparatus.

Stefano Pizzicannella, Director of the department, spoke highly of Vietnam ’s achievements in administrative reform in the past few years, saying that the two sides see great potential for cooperation in the field.

At the event, high-ranking inspectorates of the two countries shared information about organisation and functions of the inspection agencies as well as advantages and hindrances of inspection activities in each country.

The handling of citizens’ administrative complaints and violations in public administration were also discussed at the meeting.

During his visit, Tranh met with Vice President of the Senate of Italy Valeria Fedeli. He briefed the Italian leader of Vietnam ’s socio-economic development as well as inspection policies to enhance government administration efficiency.

Valeria Fedeli affirmed that both countries are prioritising administrative reform and Vietnam’s experience is very useful for Italy .

The two sides agreed to create favourable conditions to foster inspection cooperation, particularly delegation exchanges and personnel training.

The Vietnamese delegation will have working sessions with a number of Italy ’s state administration agencies in the days to come.-VNA
