Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese and Japanese armies need to enhancecooperation in delegation exchanges, policy dialogues, training, experiencesharing and UN peacekeeping activities.
Minister of Defence Ngo Xuan Lich made the suggestion while receiving JapaneseAmbassador to Vietnam Umeda Kunio in Hanoi on January 24.
Vietnam and Japan have fostered their ties in a comprehensive manner withincreasing political trust for benefits of the two peoples as well as regionaland global peace and sustainability, he noted.
Vietnam wants to work with Japan in the settlement of post-war chemical toxinconsequences through projects, Lich said.
Ambassdor Umeda Kunio, for his part, underlined that bilateral ties have beenfostered in all fields and the two governments have consistently agreed tosupport each other at regional and international forums.
Both sides need to expand cooperation in the fields of their strengths andpromote dialogue mechanisms, he recommended.-VNA
