The Vietnamese Embassy in Sri Lanka has attended the 6 th National Development Exhibition that took place from Feb. 4-10 in northern central Anuradhapura city as part of activities to mark the country’s the National Day (Feb. 4).
This is the first time Vietnam has taken part in the exhibition since its embassy opened in the country in April 2011.
At the seven-day exhibition, Vietnam’s show-case including images of the country and people, fine arts articles, publications of Vietnamese culture, tourism as well as of Vietnam- Sri Lanka relations, has drawn the attention of visitors.
Organised in turn among Sri Lanka’s localities, the annual exhibition, the biggest of its kind, draws the participation of businesses from many countries such as India, Russia, the US, Japan and Malaysia.
Earlier on Feb. 4, a meeting and parade as well as a music show were held in Anuradhapura . Addressing the ceremony, Sri Lankan President M. Rajapaksa praised the nation’s achievements since 1948, particularly after the 30 years of civil war. The president also called for unity among citizens in order to reconstruct and develop the country.
On the occasion, Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang cabled a congratulatory message to President M. Rajapaksa and other Sri Lankan leaders./.
