Vietnam and Laos should improve the quality of and diversify modes of cooperation in labour and social welfare to further contribute to the socio-economic development of the two countries, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has said.
Phuc made the suggestion during the third Meeting of Ministers of Labour and Social Welfare between Vietnam and Laos, which took place in central Hue city on July 1.
He acknowledged the effective cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Welfare and the Lao Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare in recent times, especially the signing of a labour cooperation agreement.
At the meeting, both sides agreed to continue implementing the labour cooperation agreement between the two Governments and the cooperation agreement between the two ministries.
The ministries will increase the sharing of experiences and cooperation in labour and employment, and make recommendations to their Governments to remove any difficulties arising in policy implementation.
They will also work closely with relevant agencies of both nations to search and collect remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and Lao soldiers who died in each other’s territories during wartime.
The two sides agreed to hold their fourth meeting in Laos in 2015.-VNA
