Officials from the Lao southern province of Sekong and Vietnam’s central city of Da Nang have met in Sekong to review bilateral cooperation between the two localities.
Sekong Governor Colonel Khampheui Boutdavieng highlighted Da Nang’s help in various areas for the province’s economic development, such as assistance of 6 billion VND to build a park and the provincial politics-administration school, another 222 million VND for planting and husbandry development, 6,000 USD for purchase of equipment and 50,000 USD for construction of the Laos-Vietnam friendship school.
Tran Tho, Vice Secretary of the Da Nang municipal Party’s Committee, said the party and people of Da Nang will provide more assistance to Sekong via scholarship to students and implementation of construction projects in 2011 and 2012.
Also in Laos , the Dak Lak rubber company invested more than 50 million USD to plant rubber trees in southern Laos. The company planted almost 9,000 hectares of rubber trees and accelerated the construction of a rubber processing plant, which is expected to be completed in the middle of this year and put into operation by the end of the year.
The company plans to build two more rubber processing plants in southern Laos, contributing to helping poverty reduction and improvement of people’s conditions in southern provinces./.
