Vietnam-Laos ICT cooperation forum held in Vientiane

The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) and the Lao Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (MPT) jointly held a forum in Vientiane on November 2 to seek measures to foster bilateral cooperation in information and communication technology (ICT).

– The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) and the LaoMinistry of Post and Telecommunications (MPT) jointly held a forum in Vientianeon November 2 to seek measures to foster bilateral cooperation in informationand communication technology (ICT).

Addressing the event,MIC Deputy Minister Hoang Vinh Bao and MPT Deputy Minister Thongsay Xanexayaagreed that the forum is a good chance for Vietnamese post, telecommunicationsand information technology firms to access new projects of Laos to expand theirinvestment, while giving a platform for ICT firms of both sides to discussfuture partnership.

Representatives fromMPT shared Laos’ ICT infrastructure investment policies. Meanwhile, the VietnamPost and Telecommunications introduced its strengths and potential incollaborating with the Lao side.

Star Telecom, a jointventure between Vietnam and Laos, also presented their capacity and productsserving the government and enterprises, as well as those targeting health care,education, transportation and energy sector.

Within the forum’sframework, MIC and MPT leaders witnessed the signing of cooperation dealsbetween the VNPT and the Lao Telecom Company, between the VNPost and Lao Post,and between Vietnam Academy of Post and Telecommunications and the Laos’University of Information Technology and Communications.

The Vietnam-Laos ICTCooperation Forum 2017 was part of activities to mark the Vietnam-LaosSolidarity and Friendship Year 2017, 40 years of the signing of the Treaty ofAmity and Cooperation, and 55th anniversary of bilateral diplomaticties.-VNA
