Vietnam, Laos plan oil and gas pipeline project

Vietnam and Laos will conduct a feasibility study on a project building a bonded warehouse and two oil and gas pipelines running from Vietnam’s central province of Quang Binh’s Hon La island to the Lao province of Khammouane.

A deal to this effect was signed byrepresentatives of the Petrolimex Laos, Slovakia’s Energy Commoditiescompany, the Association of Vietnamese Investors in Laos and TruongThinh Corporation in Vientiane on April 25.

Once operational, the project will help Laos ensure energy security while saving costs of transporting oil and gas.

Lao Finance Minister Liane Thykeo pledged to offer all possible support to the project.-VNA

EC postpones Vietnam’s seafood inspection until year end

The ministry received the notification from the EC’s Directorate – General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG-MARE) in early May, which requested Vietnam to submit a progress report on implementing the EC’s recommended improvements before September 15. The commission will dispatch an inspection team to the country in late 2025 if the report demonstrates sufficient advancements.
